Art or UFO? A bizarre object was discovered in the middle of the desert

It started as a routine mission, but soon became a mystery adventure detached from science fiction movies. A Utah Department of Public Safety aviator discovered a metal monolith … right in the middle of nowhere.

On Wednesday, officers were flying over the desert area to monitor local wildlife when something caught their attention. And it would have been difficult to pass such a thing carelessly. The metallic object immediately stood out against the dull, monochromatic background.

“One of the biologists saw it (no objects). We were flying over it,” pilot Bret Hutchings told CNN. “She said: Ooh, come back, come back! and I don’t understand why. She said: There is something there, we need to take a look. ”

And right there, in the middle of the desert, among the red rocks, they discovered a shiny metallic monolith. Hutchings estimated that he was “10 to 12 feet tall” (about 3 feet tall). “It didn’t look like it was randomly thrown to the ground,” he added.

“I also joked. We have established that the others must flee immediately if one of us suddenly disappears.” Despite the humor surrounding the alien universe, officers say they are not afraid. They thought more of a rational explanation. For example, the mysterious monolith may have been the work of an artist. Perhaps even a big fan of the film “2001: A Space Odyssey” (1968), Hutchings thinks, referring to a scene similar to the one they encountered on the mission.

Art or not, the law does not forgive. Placing such an object on public land without permission is illegal, “it doesn’t matter which planet you come from,” the Utah Department of Public Safety said in a statement. The Land Management Office will decide if further investigation is needed.
