American Schwandt family: the couple has a daughter – after 14 children

It’sa Girl: A wish came true for an extended American family from the state of Michigan. Married couple Kateri and Jay Schwandt, both 45, had their 15th child and eventually gave their 14 children a sister. The age difference between eldest son Tyler and newborn Maggie Jayne is 28 years.

“We are overwhelmed with joy and excited to welcome Maggie Jayne into our family,” said family man Jay Schwandt of the local Detroit Free Press newspaper. The baby was born on Thursday evening in a hospital in the city of Grand Rapids.

Maggie Jayne was “the greatest gift” to her family, Schwandt pointed out. His wife Kateri said six years ago that the birth of a daughter would likely cause a “shock” in her family. In fact, the children reacted calmly to the offspring. “I don’t think my mom owns a single piece of pink clothing,” joked eldest son Tyler.
