In Muscat, the capital of Oman, a dozen cats and dogs compete for the attention of Maryam al Balushi, the woman who distributes them sweets on a bed at home.

Maryam al Balushi’s new love for animals grows thanks to expatriates who leave the country who often leave their pets at her door.
In 2014 he bought his house to take care of his animals, since up until then the neighbors of the buildings where he lived they had filed multiple complaints.
The woman says her impressive collection of cats and dogs helped her overcome her depression and earned him a significant number of Instagram followers. “I was in a hole and they were my lifeline,” he says.
