The hectic decisions, ordinances and layoffs of Donald Trump’s senior executives send a clear signal: he understands that he has no time left, except for those few weeks until January 20 until someone else rules from the Oval Office.

He has realized that there will be no more four years in which he can achieve his political goals for the restructuring of the United States. Then he uses the pen strokes that the law allows him to add final traces to his legacy, which as far as possible no one can hide.

Escalation in the last meters

This is surely one reason why it is still rapidly assigning mineral rights to the nature reserve, having laid the foundation for the wall in Mexico, withdrawing troops from Afghanistan, or considering an attack on Iran.

It was there, all the elements of its 2016 promises, which have not yet been fully implemented. The fact that he behaves like the proverbial elephant in a china shop, demolishing fragile political and diplomatic structures at every movement, does not bother him. Quite the contrary: with each passing day, with each signature, it deliberately makes it harder for Joe Biden to start the presidency.

The hasty withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan alone could bind Biden’s forces for years, if the Taliban no longer felt a counterweight and seized power with a new tyranny. At the same time, Biden can no longer simply unravel felled trees, paved roads and drill holes.

Trump in a revenge campaign against his country

In the final days of his presidency, Donald Trump also demonstrates what has shaped the last four years: he takes politics personally, has waged a campaign of revenge against a country that has not re-elected him, and takes the field against those who do not support loyalty. Say “yes” right away.

The defense minister, who does not want to send troops against the demonstrators, the head of cybersecurity, who dares to call the presidential elections “safe”, which Trump has declared falsified without evidence. You have to go. And drug companies, which in his eyes have delayed reporting on a corona vaccine until after the election, are quickly forced into regulation to cut drug prices.

Trump’s presidency had only one item on the agenda: Trump

It is clear that it can do all of this. He is president until January 20 and has these rights. Does it serve the well-being of the country that is facing gigantic problems? Certainly not, even the friends at the party are raising their warning hands.
