A new monolith has appeared in Romania, a few meters from the site of an ancient fortress.
A structure almost identical to the famous Utah monolith, which has since disappeared, was found in Romania. This monolith, which is the same height as its missing twin, but its surface is not completely smooth, with some engraved scribbles.
This monolith is located a few meters from an ancient fortress, the Petrodava Dacian fortress, according to the Daily Mail.
The fortress is believed to have been destroyed by the Romans in the 2nd century AD, but parts of the city walls are still visible today.
Authorities said the owner of the structure is still unknown, but whoever placed it should have sought permission from the country’s Ministry of Culture, as it is a historic site.
The missing monolith
Officials from the Utah Bureau of Land Management announced the disappearance of the US monolith over the weekend. Where the structure was, only stones and a small metal plate remained.
The “illegally installed facility” was removed by an “unknown person” and not by department staff, according to the BLM. There will be no investigation into his disappearance by the BLM because it is “private property” and is not part of public land, the statement added.
It is not yet known where the metal monolith came from, discovered earlier this month by a team of biologists and officials from the Utah Department of Safety while conducting an investigation of wild sheep from a helicopter. The team saw the bright object in the sky and began investigating.
