THE Golden Ray, which sank with more than four thousand cars in it, off the coast of Georgia, in early September 2019, will be saved by a giant “claw”.
According to the local press, action Relief will begin this week, more than a year after the accident. The ship will be cut into eight parts and these will be removed from the sea by a crane with a ‘claw’ about 200 meters long.
In addition to the crane, a kind of chainsaw giant will help to cut the hull of the ship, which belongs to the Hyundai company Glovis.
The removal of Golden Ray took over a year, previously due to the time storms and then an epidemic that hit the team that was about to save him.
At the time, local media reported that the shipwreck was caused by the excess of vehicles the ship was carrying.
As you can see in the photos already posted, the cars are still inside the ship, but some are flooded. Despite this, the company has the expectation to retrieve most vehicles, even if they are targeted for “recycling”.
