Worldwide and in Ukraine, the incidence of COVID-19 is on the rise. Through the state of emergency we support the activities of all services involved in the prevention of the disease“Prime Minister Smigal said after the government meeting where the decision was made.

Ukraine imposed measures in March to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus, which it has partially eased since May to allow the economy to recover. Since then, the state of emergency, also known as “adaptive quarantine“, a procedure by which anti-epidemic restrictions can be maintained or imposed, the last extension expires on 31 October.

From 1 August, the restrictions have been applied taking into account the number of cases of contagion in each region of the country, thus establishing four areas according to the severity of the epidemic, respectively green, yellow, orange and red areas. Restrictions decided by placing a region in one of these areas include the suspension of public transport, public services and other measures.

What are the restrictions

The new measures will come into force with the decision of extension of the restrictions regarding the limitation of the opening hours of restaurants and other places between 07:00 and 22:00, the prohibition of public participation in sporting events (except international ones, for which the Ministry of Health will decide the case by chance), as well as the limitation of participation in events or meetings up to 50 people in green areas, 30 in yellow areas and 20 in orange areas.

In addition, all companies will have to send their employees to telework where possible, keeping the salary unchanged.

The country, with about 40 million inhabitants, has so far recorded 363,075 cases of COVID-19, including 6,755 deaths, with 7,474 new diseases and 165 confirmed deaths on Wednesday.
