You can buy a house in the small town of Sambuca, located in the island of Sicily, in southern Italy, for just one euro.
Local authorities want to revive the settlement that has been depopulated after residents have moved to larger cities.
"Unlike other cities that have just done this for propaganda, the municipalities here have all the houses put up for sale for € 1," says Giuseppe Cacioppo, deputy mayor of the locality.
The new owners must renovate the house purchased in the next three years and invest at least 15,000 euros.
They must also deposit a deposit of 5,000 euros.
The amount will be fully repaid once the renovation is completed.
