The documents published on GitHub have confirmed reports of private talks held among the developers of ethereum to speed up a major update on the network.
On Friday, Greg Colvin, an engineer and an ethereum virtual machine engineer, has published some documents on the Ethereum page on the open source sharing network GitHub. The documents included the minutes of four private meetings held by the developers of ethereum during the recently concluded DevCon4 conference.
According to the discussions, the developers have planned to start an update that will significantly increase the capabilities of the ethereum network by the middle of next year. The update called "ethereum 1x" has been kept hidden by some members of the ethereum developer community until now.
In response to the minutes, the famous developer of ethereum and the person responsible for the release of Parity ethereum have noted that they are not aware of the update plans and are not aware of the meetings held.
However, the meetings were followed by important ethereum developers including the co-creator of ethereum Vitalik Buterin and co-founder of ethereum and founder of ConsenSys Joseph Lubin. Noteworthy members of the ethereum community and developers attended the meetings, including Peter Szilagyi, Lane Rettig, Hudson Jameson and Danny.
The meetings focused on updates on Ethereum 2.0 and Ethereum 1x, among other things, looked at suggestions on how to make decisions and on how best to seek and get public feedback from the community. In one of the meetings, the participants agreed to prioritize small sequential updates while maintaining a sense of urgency towards updates. They recommended analysis based on the data of the problem as a means of informing the motivation of the changes. As for the feedback, they preferred to get as many public feedback as possible.
The developers, above all, discussed the expected changes to the hardfork planned for June 2019. Vitalik Buterin seemed to favor small incremental changes to the wholesale trade unless it is clearly justified by an analysis depth. A working group has been set up to consider the simulation of changes / data that will inform motivation. The simulations had to do three things: show what happens if the developers do nothing, show the analysis if the developers are solving the right problems and show the analysis of the impact of the solutions.
Two other work groups have also been formed; one to consider eWASM, an alternative proposed to the Ethereum virtual machine (EVM) and the other to consider "rent". (that is, storage costs for smart contracts). It is expected that the introduction of the fee will reduce the growth of the size of the ethereum network that each participant node must discharge. The working groups should report in a call of developers on Friday scheduled for November 30th.
Schoedon in his reply to the postings suggested that public announcements be made before forming private work groups. "If you want to have private work groups, that's how it is [fine] and it makes sense, but you should be transparent and maybe start with a public announcement, "he advised
