The woman eats sushi that she has kept in the fridge for five days and hallucinates for nine months

A 24-year-old woman suffered from hallucinations, insomnia and incontinence for months after consuming a plate of sushi bought at a gas station and left in the refrigerator for five days.

This situation was reported by Chubby Emu, an associate professor and physician in Chicago at the University of Illinois, on his youtube channel where he reports rare medical cases that he or his colleagues have followed.

This time, Chubby Emu talked about a patient who only wanted to identify herself as JC, to preserve the woman’s identity.

It turns out that the patient, after a long day at work, noticed that she hadn’t eaten all day and that there were no more restaurants open, so she remembered eating some pieces of sushi she bought five days ago in a gas station and that stored in the fridge.

Days later, JC began spending nights in his arms, anxious and feeling his heart was “beating out of his neck,” the doctor reports, and spent months suffering from malnutrition, incontinence, and animal hallucinations for climbing. walls and under your skin.

JC also had a feeling that her stomach was shaking and she became restless before going to the bathroom, like a side-to-side fish “hitting her in the belly,” the doctor said, according to the patient. After all, what looked like a fish was a tapeworm, a parasitic worm, a giant that had been in JC’s stomach for nine months.

Indeed, after several blood tests and analyzes and two hospital visits due to seizures, the doctors found that in addition to the giant tapeworm, there were already eggs and fragments of the parasite in the patient’s body.

This tapeworm, called diphyllobothrium latum, can grow up to 15 meters inside the body. JC was then medicated with a dose of an anti-deworming drug, praziquantel, and was able to recover in the meantime.
