Two people were injured Wednesday in a knife attack and fire at a supermarket in the Dutch city of The Hague, according to Dutch police, cited by AFP, Agerpres reports.

Following the accident, part of the central area of the city was closed. Police say a knife attack and fire were reported in a supermarket in the city’s central square, Grote Markt. The fire was extinguished and the two wounded were taken to hospital.

Asked by AFP about a possible terrorist trail, a police spokeswoman said “there was still no known reason” for the attack.

A police helicopter is looking for a suspect whose signals are “tall, dark-skinned” and about 30 years old, according to this news agency.

An entrepreneur told local radio station Omroep West that the attack took place on an Albert Heijn store, a Dutch retail chain, News.ro reports.

“People were finishing the shop. I heard someone spilled alcohol on the floor and set it on fire,” said the owner of a clothing store near the supermarket.

“I heard someone stabbed people inside,” he told the station, according to which the suspect left the supermarket and took refuge in a restaurant across the street.

Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf quotes another eyewitness, who says he overheard an argument at the supermarket and that someone had a machete.

In one video, a person is caught being loaded into an ambulance by paramedics, while firefighters were with police on a street where traffic was closed.

It is unclear whether the stabbings and the firing have anything to do with this, the tabloid writes.

Local media say police said there was no evidence of terrorism in the incident.
