Khartoum, 29 Nov. (Xinhua) – United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi said Sunday that $ 147 million is needed to help Ethiopian refugees in Sudan.

More than 43,000 Ethiopians have fled here amid the ongoing conflict between the Ethiopian federal government and an insurgent regional government in Northern Tigray since November 4, the agency said Friday.

The refugees brought “next to nothing” upon their arrival, Grandi tweeted on Sunday after visiting them in Sudan.

He said humanitarian agencies asked for US $ 147 million to meet the basic needs of refugees for six months, with special attention to the most vulnerable. Enditem
