Russian President Vladimir Putin may be the father of the 17-year-old daughter of a millionaire in St. Petersburg, according to Russian media.
Yelizaveta Vladimirovna Krivonogikh “strikingly resembles the Russian president,” writes the survey site Proekt, cited by The Moscow Times, which can be seen from the photos obtained.
His mother, Svetlana Krivonogikh, has a company that owns a small part of Rossiya Bank, which was sanctioned by the West after the annexation of Crimea in 2014, for its ties to the Russian political elite. Proekt estimates the total value of Krivonogikh’s known properties and business activities in Moscow, St. Petersburg and the Sochi resort town at 7.7 billion rubles, or $ 102 million.
The cited publication claims to have obtained copies of documents – probably a birth certificate – in which the teenager’s father is identified only by his patronymic – Vladimirovna.
Facial recognition software would have shown a 70.44% similarity between Putin and the young Krivonogikh and a 75% match.
“We can conclude that they may be related”, says Proekt, who quotes a visual computer scientist, Hassan Ugail.
Proekt has announced that it will not post photos with Yelizaveta Krivonogikh, who was born in 2003 and has lived under a different family name in recent years. The teenager allegedly deleted the photos showing her face on social media.
The publication also says that Svetlana Krivonogikh had promised to contact her correspondent, but never did and he was unable to contact her.
Putin’s relationship with Krivonogikh began in the 1990s, before he became president, with Proekt claiming to have obtained the information from two close sources. She worked as a housekeeper and lived in a regular apartment before moving to one of the most luxurious residences in St. Petersburg. The relationship probably ended “towards the end of the last decade”.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said he had been asked about Krivonogikh earlier but knew nothing about it.
“Yes, I’ve been asked about this name, but I’ve never heard of it and don’t know anything about it.”Peskov told reporters, following the material released Wednesday by Proekt.
“This is the first time I’ve heard of such a woman and I can’t tell you anything about it.”, He added.
Putin, divorced since 2013, has repeatedly avoided confirming or denying rumors that he was the father of endocrinologist Maria Vorontsova and manager Katerina Tikhonova.
