The rate for university students, schoolchildren and children up to age 12 will be 32 soles ($ 9.14), similar to the one established for this year, before the citadel closes due to the covid-19 pandemic.

The resolution recalled that the Peruvian law declares tourism “of national interest and its treatment as a priority policy of the State” and provides that the authorities “can establish in certain periods promotional rates to enter protected natural areas or assets that are part of the Nation’s Cultural Heritage “.
He added that the General tourism law “Encourages the promotion of social tourism”, with the aim of facilitating workers, children, young people, students, people with disabilities, the elderly, rural and indigenous communities and other human groups who can “enjoy attractions and tourist services “.
In this sense, the Ministry of Culture has ordered the publication of promotional rates and communication to the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur) for their dissemination.
Reopening in November
Machu Picchu has been closed since last March, when the pandemic started, until last November 1st, when it started to receive tourists with limited capacity and adherence to a rigorous health safety plan that includes wearing masks and maintaining social distances.

At the moment it receives, at most, 30% of tourists who entered before the pandemic, which means 675 visitors per day, with an hourly limit of 75 people, in groups limited to a maximum of 8 people, including a guide, who must maintain a minimum distance of 20 meters with the other groups throughout the visit.
From the reopening, Peruvians don’t pay to enter to the archaeological site, a measure adopted by the authorities to encourage the return of internal tourism and counter the economic impact of the pandemic.
