A collision between a truck and a bus started this Wednesday 25 November, 41 dead and several injured, according to the latest official toll, in Brazil. The events took place near the city of Taguaí, in the state of Sao Paulo.
The Military Police (PM) reported that 37 people died at the crash site. Another 14 were rescued alive, of whom four died in hospital units and nine are in serious health.

Rescue operations by dozens of firefighters and policemen were not easy, as the bus, which carried the workers of a textile company, was partially destroyed.
“When the troops arrived there were bodies everywhere, it was not possible to tell who was in the truck or on the bus“, an adviser of the Military Police told the agency ‘AFP’.
The accident was one of the most serious ever recorded on the streets of Sao Paulo. “He is the oldest of the year,” said military police lieutenant Alexandre Guedes, quoted by ‘CNN Brasil’.

According to the Sao Paulo State Transport Agency (Artesp), the PPE company Star Fretamento and Locação Eireli, responsible for the bus involved in the accident, It had no passenger transport record, had accumulated infractions and had been operating illegally since 11 October 2019.

The San Paolo State Health Secretariat has launched a blood donation campaign for survivors of the accident and the collections were 160, 33% more than the daily average.
“In a situation like this, blood transfusion is essential and the worst thing is that blood supplies are low due to the covid-19 pandemic,” Health Secretary Jean Gorinchteyn told Brazilian TV channel ‘Globo. News’, which moved to the crash site.
