The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro Moros, on behalf of the Venezuelan People and Government, addresses his heartfelt words of condolence to the People and the Government of the Republic of Cuba, on the occasion of the sensitive death of comrade Julio César Gandarilla Bermejo , minister of the interior of that brother country.

Vice Admiral Julio César Gandarilla Bermejo has carried out important responsibilities since the triumph of the Cuban Revolution in 1959; he exercises functions as chief of military counterintelligence, member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (CCP) and deputy in the National Assembly of People’s Power.

We Venezuelans recognize in this illustrious son of the homeland of Martí and Fidel, an unshakable example of struggle, patriotism and fierce defense of the dignity and self-determination of our brother the Cuban people, for whose cause he faithfully served; At the same time we express our solidarity with the relatives of this senior official, and with the people and government of the Republic of Cuba, for his deplorable physical disappearance.
