A 6.2-magnitude earthquake rocked the Chilean coast, the US Geological Survey announced. The quake occurred at a depth of about 20 kilometers. There is still no information on material damage or casualties.

The quake occurred about 157.4 km southeast of Talca, a city of about 200,000 inhabitants, located south of the capital Santiago.
No tsunami warnings were issued after the earthquake.
About 10 million people are said to have been shaken, according to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center.
However, it appears that the earthquake caused no casualties or major property damage.
