US Elections: Georgia Vote Counting Confirms Joe Biden’s Victory – 2020 US Elections – International

The US state of Georgia completed a manual recount of all votes cast there in the November 3 presidential election, and the results confirmed Joe Biden’s victory, a local official announced Thursday.

“The audit confirmed that the original machine count accurately represented the winner of the election,” reads a statement posted on Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger’s website.

The text also ensures that “due to the tight tendering margin and the auditing principles limiting the risk”, the audit was carried out manually and all votes cast were verified.

“This is a credit to the hard work of our county and local election officials who moved quickly to undertake and complete such an important task in such a short amount of time,” Raffensperger said.

The Secretary of State also explained that the difference between the reported results and the full manual count “is within the expected error rate of the manual count cards”.

The confirmation makes Biden the first Democratic presidential candidate to win that southern U.S. state in nearly three decades, despite allegations of fraud from his rival, President Donald Trump.
