The federal government and German states are considering other restrictions to stop the increase in the number of Covid-19 cases. Chancellor Angela Merkel and the leaders of the 16 German states want new measures to stop the coronavirus pandemic.

According to a document cited by Reuters, underway in Germany and concerning the new measures, the authorities would announce other restrictions, as there has been no decrease in the number of SARS-CoV-2 infections.

This month, Germany imposed a series of measures to keep the second wave of the pandemic in check, as did most European countries. As a result of the first restrictions, the number of new infections does not increase exponentially, but a decrease in the number of infections is not yet predictable, the paper shows.

“Further efforts are needed (…) We have four difficult winter months ahead of us, before hopefully seasonal effects and the emergence of vaccinations will allow us to gradually overcome the pandemic,” the document reads. stated by Reuters from Mediafax.

According to the proposals, which could change after discussion between the chancellor and regional leaders, private meetings in public will only be possible for people in a family with two people in another family, compared to a maximum of 10 people in two families as it is now. In schools, all students wear masks, with a few exceptions for elementary schools today. All classes will be halved to allow more space between individual students.

All people considered vulnerable will be entitled once a week to a high quality mask, also known as FFP2.

On November 23, Merkel and the heads of the regional states will meet and decide on further measures, taking into account the trend in the number of infections so far.

Since the start of the pandemic, 520,000 cases of COVID-19 have been detected in Germany by the end of October, but the number has increased by 50% to 780,000 cases in the first two weeks of November.

Over the same period, the number of ICU patients in German hospitals increased by 70%, leading to regional blockades. Over the weekend, many German politicians warned against easing current measures and warned of heavy winter months.
