Official spokesperson for the Egyptian Armed Forces Tamer al-Refeai announced on Saturday that Egyptian military units have arrived in Sudan to participate in joint military exercises.
Units of the Egyptian Air Force and Command Forces have arrived at Marwa Air Base in Sudan to attend the “Nile Eagles – 1” training session, Refeai wrote on Facebook.
This training, the first of the two neighboring nations, will continue until November 26 and is part of the joint training plan of the Egyptian armed forces with friendly countries.
Refeai explained that the training will witness many activities, such as planning and managing joint combat actions between the Egyptian and Sudanese air forces.
The training will also include multi-role fighters from both sides who will carry out offensive and defensive sorties on training targets, he added, in addition to training command forces for combat search and rescue work.
It will also contain theoretical and practical lessons that will contribute to the unification of concepts and the exchange of experiences between the two parties.
On 3 November, the Chief of Staff of the Egyptian Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Mohamed Farid, met with Sudanese officials in Khartoum to discuss ways to strengthen military and security cooperation between the two countries.
Both sides agreed to strengthen joint work in the fields of rehabilitation, training, border security, counter-terrorism and military industries.
