The Freedom Plaza near the White House in Washington today belonged to supporters of President-elect Trump. His idol was also visible behind the armored windows of his limo.
Thousands of supporters of US President Donald Trump gathered in Washington to protest his election. Protesters demanded “another four years” for Trump in the White House despite Democratic challenger Joe Biden’s election victory and denounced alleged election fraud.
Trump himself passed the protesters in his armored presidential limo and greeted them through the window. They welcomed him with great applause. The president then moved on to golf. Various groups have called for the protests, including the nationalist “Proud Boys” and “Women for Trump”. He had tweeted the day before: “I could try and say hello.”
There was massive social media publicity for the “Million MAGA March” based on Trump’s campaign motto “Make America Great Again”. This sparked concern that protesters might clash with Trump opponents who have been standing near the White House on Black Lives Matter Plaza for weeks. As a precaution, the police sealed off much of downtown Washington.
Did Trump indicate a subsidence?
The president continues to refuse to admit defeat in the November 3 election. Friday, however, for the first time seemed to indicate a possible failure: the “future” will show who will rule the country in the future, he said in a subordinate sentence in a speech in the White House rose garden.
Previously, TV stations CNN and ABC had proclaimed former Vice President Biden and his 16 constituents in the southern war state of Georgia the winner. This brings Biden to 306 of the nation’s 538 voters, and to win an election he needed 270. At the same time, CNN and ABC said Trump had won the North Carolina contention with his 15 voters.
This declared the winners in all states. Trump has a total of 232 voters. The incumbent has been talking for days of alleged electoral fraud without evidence and accusing the Democrats of trying to “steal” his election. So far, electoral authorities have not reported any major irregularities in a single US state. On Thursday, high-ranking representatives of US electoral authorities firmly rejected allegations of fraud in a joint statement: the November 3 election was “the safest in American history”.
