(CNN) –– A law firm representing President Donald Trump’s campaign in a controversial and risky attempt to block Pennsylvania’s popular vote for Joe Biden has withdrawn the case.
The company, Porter Wright Morris & Arthur, had two attorneys in Pittsburgh who were spearheading Trump’s election campaign in Pennsylvania. They both told a judge in overnight papers that they were leaving. And they added that the Trump campaign could bring in new lawyers for trial.
The Trump campaign now has only one attorney in the effort it pushes before a federal court in Pennsylvania. It involves a Philadelphia solo professional named Linda Ann Kerns, who promotes her media appearances and commentary as much as her legal experience.
Biden leads the state with nearly 60,000 votes, and CNN has predicted he will win all 20 Pennsylvania election votes.
The Trump campaign case in Pennsylvania has an upcoming hearing
Porter Wright is a mid-sized law firm in the Midwest created to primarily represent corporations. His decision to drop the Trump case indicates growing national unease over the president’s continuing desire to push for baseless attacks on the vote. Also for undermining Biden’s victory in several key states with a move that blocks the popular vote and influences the Electoral College in his favor.
The Plaintiffs and Porter Wright have mutually agreed that Plaintiffs will receive better service if Porter Wright retires, and the current Co-Attorney and any other attorney Plaintiffs may choose to represent Plaintiffs in this case. The plaintiffs are in the process of hiring and bringing in more attorneys to appear here, ”lawyers Ronald Hicks and Carolyn McGee wrote in the Pennsylvania case.
The case has strong arguments and a voting evidence hearing is scheduled for next week.
The judge in the case, Matthew Brann, won his seat during the Obama years. However, he is a longtime leader of the Republican Party in Pennsylvania.
Earlier this week, Jones Day publicly distanced himself from cases in which the president challenges the popular vote or denounces election fraud. Jones Day is a large elite law firm that has long represented Trump’s interests.
