After President Donald Trump’s campaign trips, dozens of intelligence employees have been infected with the corona virus or are in quarantine, according to US media. The spread is at least partly attributed to the series of appearances for which Trump traveled across the country before the presidential election, the Washington Post reported Friday, citing informed people. According to the newspaper, 130 employees are affected, about ten percent of the main security team.
According to the CNN broadcaster, these are “several dozen” employees. The secret service is responsible, among other things, for protecting important officials like the president. In Trump’s dozen campaign appearances – sometimes he made several a day – security guards had to travel and were stationed around the podium. Many of the Trump supporters present wore no masks and did not keep their distance.
Trump had already been accused of unnecessarily endangering security people after climbing into the presidential vehicle during his Covid 19 illness to greet his fans outside hospital gates.
