Turkmenistan President Kurbankulu Berdimuhammedov has a giant statue erected for his dog Alabay in the capital Ashgabat.
Social media reacted to Bedirmuhammedov, who opened the statue with the ceremony. In the reactions of social media, many people asked Berdimuhammedov to have the statue demolished.
Known as the native breed of Turkmenistan
Alabay dogs of Turkmenistan origin, widely used by Central Asian communities, are known to have a lifespan of 12-15 years.
