Passengers on flights from Portugal, with the exception of the Autonomous Region of the Azores, will be required to submit a negative PCR test upon arrival at an airport in Spain from 23 November.
The Official Bulletin of the Spanish State (corresponding to the Diário da República in Portugal) today publishes the list of areas and countries considered at risk in view of entering Spain by air or sea.
Travel agencies, tour operators and air or sea transport companies and any other agent selling tickets must inform passengers at the beginning of the ticket sales process for Spain.
“All passengers from a country or area at risk listed in Annex II, who intend to enter Spain, must take an Active Infection Test for SRA-CoV-2 with negative result, carried out within 72 hours prior to arrival in Spain ”, according to the published standard, which adds the need for the document to be written in Spanish and / or English.
In the case of European countries and the Schengen area, the risk map prepared by the European Center for Disease Control is followed, which uses the cumulative notification rate of covid-19 cases over the last 14 days, the rate of positive results and the test rate.
They will then have to submit a PCR test performed 72 hours before arrival to the vast majority of EU Member States, including “Portugal (except the Autonomous Region of the Azores Islands)”, Finland, Greece and several regions of Norway.
As for third countries, the fundamental reference will be the overcoming of the accumulated incidence of 150 infections per 100,000 inhabitants in 14 days, supplemented by the capabilities implemented, as required by the International Health Regulations.
This list includes, for example, countries such as Cape Verde, the United States of America or the United Kingdom.
Spain recorded 19,096 new cases of covid-19 on Wednesday, bringing the total number of infected people in the country to more than 1.4 million people since the start of the pandemic, according to data released by the Spanish Ministry of Health.
Health authorities have also accounted for 349 more deaths attributed to covid-19, with over 40,000 deaths so far.
On Wednesday, the accumulated incidence level in Spain stabilized at 514 diagnosed cases (10 fewer than on Tuesday) per 100,000 inhabitants in the last 14 days, with the regions with the highest levels Ceuta (1,071), Melilla (1,013), Aragon (948), Navarre (866), Castile and Leon (846), Rioja (799), Basque Country (787) and Catalonia (642).
The covid-19 pandemic has caused more than 1.26 million deaths worldwide since December last year, 3,103 of which in Portugal.
In Europe, the highest number of victims is recorded in the United Kingdom (50,365 deaths, over 1.2 million cases), followed by Italy (42,953 deaths, more than a million cases), France (42,435 deaths, more than 1, 8 million cases) and Spain (40,105 deaths, more than 1.4 million cases).
