Nigerians will benefit from a powerful coronavirus vaccine once developed, the Nigerian health minister said Wednesday.
According to the local The Nation website, the health ministry has made arrangements to ensure that Nigerians receive the vaccine immediately after it is developed, health minister Osagie Ehanire announced.
“Just last week, we signed a memorandum of understanding to ensure that when vaccines, wherever they come from – which has been established to be effective for COVID-19 – we will not be left behind,” Ehanire said.
Nigeria, the most populous country in Africa, is one of the most affected countries on the continent.
Nigeria has so far confirmed 1,160 deaths related to COVID-19 and 64,336 infections, the Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC) said in its latest daily update.
