BerlinAbout three quarters of all people who tested positive for the coronavirus in Germany do not know where and by whom they were infected. The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) now wants to find out in a new study whether visits to pubs and restaurants are associated with an increased risk of corona infection. It should also be investigated whether it makes a difference whether you meet friends indoors or outdoors and at what events there is an increased risk of infection.
According to the RKI, adults who are ill with Covid-19 and who are not part of a local outbreak can participate in the study. Potential participants will be asked by their health department if they would like to take part in the study. Anyone who agrees will receive an information letter and a declaration of consent from the RKI. After written consent, the study participant will be interviewed by telephone. The questions mainly concern the ten days before the onset of the disease. The thematic focal points are, for example, the frequency and specific circumstances of private and professional meetings with other people.
The study has been ongoing since early November and is expected to run until spring.
