Return from risk areas: new quarantine rules in force

[ad_1]

New quarantine rules apply to returnees from risk areas abroad. This can reduce the isolation time with a negative test. Anyone entering the country must register digitally. An overview.

The new quarantine rules for travelers from risk areas have been in force since Sunday. The federal government has presented a model ordinance for this, which federal states must now implement. There may be regional deviations, especially with exemptions from the quarantine obligation.

For which countries does the new regulation apply?

There are now only a few regions in Europe that are not considered risk areas. Denmark and all of Italy have also been on the list since Sunday. Many countries around the world are also considered risk areas.

What does the new quarantine obligation look like?

From 8 November all returnees from areas at risk will be quarantined for ten days. It can be shortened if those affected can have a negative corona test “at the earliest from the fifth day after entry”, as indicated in the template. So far, there has been a mandatory 14-day quarantine for those returning from risk areas.

What are the exceptions?

The regulation does not apply to people who come to Germany only to pass. But you have to leave the Federal Republic as soon as possible. Even those who have remained in a risk area for less than 24 hours as part of border traffic with neighboring countries are not covered by the quarantine obligation. Commuters, doctors, nurses, medical support staff and around-the-clock assistants can also stay longer without quarantine.

The exception also applies when visiting close relatives and spouse or partner who do not belong to the same family – and if there is shared custody.

The exceptions also apply to persons transporting goods by road, rail, ship or air, as well as high-ranking members of the diplomatic and consular services, representatives of the people and governments.

Can immigrants simply enter German soil?

No, you need to register digitally on www.einreiseanmeldung.de on the Sunday before entry. The new web application replaces the previous paper output cards.

By registering the entry, the health authorities of destination of the person entering the country should receive the necessary information, for example to be able to check whether the quarantine obligation according to state regulations is respected. Anyone who has been in a corona risk area in the previous ten days must register.
