A Muslim association, Baraka City, has been dissolved by the French Council of Ministers, accused of having relations with the radical Islamist movement and of justifying terrorist acts, Interior Minister Gérard Darmanin announced in a Twitter post.

The initiative was taken after the organization’s president uncovered messages that could be called an apology for acts of terrorism, the minister says.

The executive spokesman, Gabriel Attal, also said that his country has been subjected to a growing terrorist threat in recent days, fueled by hate calls.

It should be noted that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan called for a boycott of French products on Monday, just days after France recalled its ambassador to Ankara. Erdogan reacted aggressively after French satirical weekly Charlie Hebdo decided to re-release cartoons that angered Muslims years ago.

Representations of the prophet are considered taboo in Islam and Charlie Hebdo’s images link Islam to terrorism.
