Sophie Toscan du Plantier’s family was hugely disappointed with the government’s decision not to appeal a judge’s decision to refuse to hand Ian Bailey over to French authorities for his alleged murder, her uncle said.
Jean-Pierre Gazeau said the family intended to take their campaign to the European Union and is considering asking Emmanuel Macron to raise the case with the taoiseach.
Mr Bailey, 63, a former British journalist, denies any involvement in the death of Mrs du Plantier, a film director found dead outside her vacation home in Schull, Co Cork, in December 1996. She was beaten to death.
