9 locations where the menacing metal monolith emerged

The internet is currently enjoying one (or at least several) metal monoliths that have appeared in rather unexpected places. This phenomenon has existed for a long time. We just haven’t seen it.

For reasons, metal monoliths are recently found in remote places. For example in the desert in the state of Utah.

Or in the north of Romania on a pasture.

And since it’s the year 2020, no one really wonders what that can mean. At least not quite intense. It is only suspected that behind this is sculptor John McCracken, who died in 2011, who told his son before he died that he intended to hide works of art from around the world.

Well he was right. Because if we look closely at certain historical images, it immediately becomes evident that the monolith has been with us for much longer. We just focused on the wrong things.

For a long time, expressionism, focused on the superficial figure, distracted from the fact that the monolith can already be seen in Edvard Munch’s “The Scream”:

The monolith is also no stranger to Switzerland: in “Fohrler Live” in the philosophical segment of TV3, the monolith can be seen briefly in the background:

The menacing monolith made a memorable, if not suspicious appearance on November 22, 1963 in Dallas …

Historians have long been silent about the monolith’s presence in Rütli’s oath in 1291, although it is clearly visible in the background in paintings like this one by Jean Renggli:

It’s been 14 years, it still hurts a lot: our national team was eliminated at the 2006 World Cup against Ukraine. While a nation was blinded by Streller’s language game, the monolith in its role as a goal post has been completely forgotten:

The world watched Ali’s monumental victory over Sonny Liston, as the monolith vegetated unnoticed in the public obscurity:

Wherever the public attention was on Kate Winslet’s nude in the Titanic movie, it wasn’t the monolith in the background for too long …

In the trial against OJ Simpson it was allegedly “If the glove doesn’t fit, you have to absolve!“Right? Incorrect! It was originally called”If the glove doesn’t fit- Oh, 1 monolith!“. The ruling was subsequently repositioned by the media.

That Yilmaz Z. was actually attacked by young people and not by a monolith is something that only the most naïve of us believe right now …
