US President Donald Trump wanted to withdraw around 12,000 US troops from Germany in the summer.
According to him, Germany is investing too little in the NATO defense alliance.
Now the US Congress wants to block the withdrawal of troops at least temporarily.
This emerges from the draft defense budget package that Democrats and Republicans have agreed on.
