A date for the launch of Mainnet has finally been set by the Zilliqa (ZIL) team. Investors and project enthusiasts can now look at January 31, 2019, the date on which the ZIL project will migrate to its blockchain. Initially, the launch of Mainnet was scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2018, but the team postponed so as to be able to release a solid, safe and reliable product. They had required additional time from the Zilliqa community to perform final adjustments on the platform.
January 31 confirmed
The date was confirmed through a recent Ask Me Anything (AMA) session, the ZIL team held through the Reddit and Telegram social media platforms. The complete AMA session has been documented by the team and is now available online.
In addition, before the Mainnet is released, the team will release the third version of Testnet by the end of November. During the release of the third Testnet, the team will also publish the mining guidelines for the platform.
Security and protection audit
The team also informed the Zilliqa community that the platform was subject to safety and security checks by 3 individual companies. They went on to add that the audit results were not critical and will release the public report as soon as possible.
Token exchange window
In the recently updated project roadmap, the exchange of tokens from the ERC20 tokens to the new ZIL on the new blockchain will start from the end of the first quarter of 2019. The token exchange will continue in the second quarter of 2019. The time frame covering several months will provide ample space to the owners of ZIL to exchange their tokens. The token exchange will be supported by various important exchanges.
Vision for the next 3 to 5 years
When asked about the project vision for the next 3 – 5 years, the team had this to say:
Our goal is to become a top blockchain platform in the next year. Beyond that, we want to continue to carry out blockchain technology and bring the latest scientific research to life in a way that is useful and relevant – we believe that Zilliqa should be to stop Zilliqa.
We are eager to be the promoters of business use cases, profitable or not, which can benefit from a flow that is lacking in information, data and resources.
