A woman was pronounced dead Monday afternoon after being picked up from Lake Ontario in Oshawa, according to police.
Following a call at 1:25 pm, Durham Regional Police said the woman was taken out of the water near Birchcliffe Avenue with no vital signs and taken to hospital with the assistance of Oshawa Fire and Durham Paramedic. Services.
In a tweet posted just after 2:30 pm, police said she was pronounced dead in hospital.
Police did not say how the woman ended up in the water, but say an investigation is underway.
