Chris Bannister, CEO of Wom Colombia, told EL HERALDO that the investment in Barranquilla includes the installation of 151 network stations and 12 to 18 stores across the city.

“Our plan in Barranquilla represents an investment between USD15 million and USD20 million, a figure that will double in 2021 ”.

The senior manager said that each network station construction generates 10 indirect jobs, while the creation of shops does the same with an average of between 1.5 and 2.2 indirect jobs. “This is good for city occupation in the midst of the pandemic,” Bannister added.

At the country level, the investment strategy provides for a total amount of $ 1 trillion over a period of four to five years and the hiring of 250 thousand people, of which about 1,200 have been hired to date, 95% by Barranquilla. Furthermore, approximately 800 antennas are expected to be installed by the end of 2020, a figure that would reach over 2,000 in the next 2021. In the next few years, the goal is to reach 8,000 antennas in the country.

The CEO of Wom Colombia said that the goal they have set themselves is help connect 20 million Colombians who currently do not have access to the Internet. “It is a good opportunity for us. We have to close the digital divide and they deserve to be connected ”.
