The company will begin implementing the new tool later this year, its operations director said.

A new update will soon allow WhatsApp users to make purchases directly from a chat and without having to leave the application, as part of that instant messaging platform’s efforts to find “the best way to connect customers and businesses.”

“Every year, companies spend a lot of money handling calls, emails and SMS messages, even if customers don’t like being put on hold, being routed from one operator to another, or not knowing if the company has received the their message. ”WhatsApp communicated last Thursday.

Today, many forms of communication between people and companies “are no longer effective”, while the use of messaging applications as a method of doing business is gaining popularity. According to the text, every day more than 175 million people send messages to a WhatsApp Business account.

The company therefore decided to develop a tool that allows the entire purchase / sale process – consultation, order and payment – to be completed without the buyer having to exit the application. The customer can add one or more products to a ‘cart’ and place the order, all directly from a chat and via Facebook shops (or Facebook shops).

The information was confirmed by WhatsApp COO Matt Idema. In an interview with Reuters, Idema specified that the new update will be launched later this year and that it will charge its business customers between 0.5 and 9 cents dollar for each message sent.

Furthermore, WhatsApp plans to introduce an additional service in 2021, which will work for free and will offer companies the ability to store conversations with their customers in the cloud to synchronize them with the servers of Facebook, owner of the messaging application.
