what happened to a company under Sony’s threat

When it comes to customizing your new PS5 console, it looks like your options are going to be pretty limited. Sony has made serious threats against those who have such plans.

Many PlayStation 4 or PS4 Pro users have customized the look of the console with cases or films. This is a very old practice and the appeal of those who engage in such acquisitions is easy to understand. After making a significant investment in a console, you want to customize and protect it. You want it to be yours, just like a phone case.

Sadly, it looks like you won’t have that option when it comes to PlayStation 5. Customize My Plates is a company that specializes in PS5 replacement cases and has long started taking orders to customize Sony’s new console.

Due to a legal threat from the Japanese giant, the company had to cancel all pre-orders and start the refund process. The disappointing announcement for console fans was made via a Twitter post a few days ago.

As a reference, PlateStation started offering custom PS5 cases in mid-October, as a way to give users a little more flexibility. With $ 40 you could change the all-white look of the console. At the time, the offering included a wide range of options, silver, cherry, black, blue or camouflage. Unfortunately, “due to patent and intellectual property problems,” the whole initiative was halted.

The alternative is to buy PS5 films instead of cases. They are also offered by PlateStation.
