The president of the Blockchain Association of Uganda, Kwame Rugunda, has been named a key member of the Global Future Council on Cryptocurrencies.
Kwame, who is also the CEO of CryptoSavannah, a leading Uganda-based blockchain and crypto consulting firm, joins a reputable team of experts from around the world in evaluating key challenges and opportunities within the space and what. it will serve to achieve the key objectives of cryptocurrencies.
According to the WEF website:
“The board will work on technical knowledge products for regulators and policy makers to inform better governance, capacity building initiatives and other board selection and design projects.”

Speaking to BitcoinKE about his appointment, Kwame said:
“I’m not sure how it happened. My belief is that the WEF keeps track of the different aspects happening around 4IR and related areas of interest around the world.
In this regard, I believe our work with blockchain and crypto may have caught their attention.
It is a great honor!
We look forward to making a contribution and adding Africa’s voice to this illustrious forum. “

According to the WEF:

This role includes:
- Identify and track the latest trends, research and frontier technologies with significant potential to transform societies, industries and regions
- Contribute to delivering skills and knowledge by sharing key lessons and developing innovative ideas to build better industrial, regional and solution platform initiatives
- Provide business and government decision makers with a multidisciplinary understanding of the strategic implications
- Deepen understanding of 4IR’s drieers and enablers and how to leverage emerging technologies to address global, regional and industry issues
- Inform the strategic initiatives of the WEF by providing feedback on the direction of existing projects and new areas of interest
- Raise public awareness of the potential benefits and risks associated with important discoveries
The council is required to provide its findings as part of the WEF’s ongoing projects, initiatives and meetings.
