Video: The new material allows the house to be 3D printed in just one day

California-based company Mighty Buildings has developed patented 3D printing technology and material, which will allow it to create a home envelope with an area of 32 square meters in approximately 24 hours.

The secret ingredient is a patented synthetic substance called Light Stone Material, which hardens when exposed to UV rays. The material is strong enough to support its own weight when printing horizontal lines, which simplifies the process of printing solid structures from it.

The company plans various projects for its structures, but so far offers curved exterior walls as an eye-catching design element, but partly also to demonstrate what this material is capable of. Mighty mills the external surfaces of the walls, in order to give the structures any shape or appearance.

Inside the walls, the structural model is lined with foam, which improves heat retention beyond what allows for polystyrene or fiberglass insulation. Mighty Mod structures are supplied as complete buildings with windows, but require installation on the base and connection to engineering networks.

Mighty only supplies its facilities in California so far. It offers six different configurations, from a 32-square-foot studio with a base price of just over $ 100,000 to a two-bedroom, two-bedroom home that costs $ 285,000. However, as production increases and the process becomes more efficient, prices may fall.
