Myeongdong Jungang Store, which opened in November 2011 near Myeongdong Station, is Uniqlo’s global flagship store.
With an area of 3,966 square meters (approximately 1,200 pyeong), it attracted attention as the second largest flagship store in the world after the 5th Avenue store in New York at the time of its opening. On the day of the opening, sales totaled 2 billion won.
However, it appears that the recent coronavirus infection (Corona 19) has hit the Myeong-dong business district, hit hard.
Earlier, on the 30th of last month, Swedish fashion brand H&M also closed its Noon Square store in Myeong-dong, the first nationwide store.
Meanwhile, the national operator of UNIQLO FRL Korea reported an operating loss of 88.3 billion won from September last year to August this year.
According to the FRL Korea audit report on the 5th, FRL Korea’s sales during this period amounted to 629.7 billion won, down 55% from 1.37 trillion won in the same period last year ( from September 2018 to August 2019).
