UNIQLO Myeongdong Jungang Store will be closed on January 31 next year. This is because sales have halved after a year due to the influence of Corona 19 following the boycott of Japanese products.
UNIQLO recently announced that the Myeongdong central store will be open until January 31 through the store information page on its website.
Myeongdong Jungang store, which opened in November 2011 near Myeongdong Station, is Uniqlo’s global flagship store. With an area of 3966 m2 (approximately 1,200 pyeong), it became the second largest flagship store in the world after the 5th Avenue store in New York when it opened. On the first day of its opening, 2 billion won recorded sales.
UNIQLO’s national operator, FRL Korea, reported an operating loss of 88.3 billion won from September last year to August this year.
According to the FRL Korea audit report on the 5th, FRL Korea sales during this period amounted to 629.7 billion won, down 55% from 1.378 trillion won in the same period last year (from September 2018 to August 2019).
These results are interpreted as the fact that the consequences of the Japanese boycott, which began in the summer of last year, were seriously reflected and the effects of Corona 19 overlapped.
