The company says the ridesharing service will be available starting at 1pm for essential travel
It’s a long-awaited announcement by some, Uber will launch Thursday afternoon in Halifax Regional Municipality.
In a press release, the company says the ridesharing service will be available starting at 1pm for essential travel.
“Where there is an essential need, such as travel for frontline workers or the need to pick up a prescription, Haligon residents will be able to request a safe and convenient journey through the Uber app,” the statement said.
Uber asks all non-essential travelers to stay home at this time.
“Once the restrictions are relaxed, we look forward to supporting Halifax’s recovery and growth,” said Matthew Price, general manager of Uber Canada.
All motorcyclists will have to adhere to public health measures and masks are required for both drivers and passengers.
All app users who have been flagged for not wearing a mask will be required to prove they have face coverage on future travel by taking a selfie.
