Two new cases of Covid 19 related to travel to the province

Public health officials are reporting two new cases of COVID-19 in the province today, both related to travel.

The first case is found in the eastern health region, a woman aged between 20 and 39. The woman is a resident of the province and has traveled from the United States. She has isolated herself since she got home.

The second case is in the western health region. One woman, also aged 20 to 39, is a returning resident from Ontario. This case is a close contact of the one reported yesterday.

Contact tracking is comprehensive for both cases, and anyone considered close contact was advised to isolate themselves.

The Department of Health is also warning the public of an error in yesterday’s case report. The case is in the Western Health region, not Central Health as previously reported.

The department says there were no delays in the contact tracing process due to the error.

The province now has eight active cases of COVID-19 and 56,476 people have been tested to date.
