In the framework of a blockchain pilot program, between Saudi Customs and IT partner Tabadul, the Saudi Arabia FASAH cross-border trading platform was integrated with Maersk and the IBM TradeLens service.
FASAH connects all government and private entities involved in cross-border trade, while the Saudi customs authorities are the governmental authority responsible for facilitating the efficient importation and export of commercial goods and associated services by land , sea and air.
According to a statement, the pilot project aimed to link FASAH with TradeLens for selected services, ensuring immutability, traceability, reduction of reconciliation, verification and compliance.

The launch of this project represents the commitment of Saudi Customs in achieving the ambitious goals set out in Vision 2030 of Saudi Arabia, a national initiative to diversify the Kingdom economy, attract international investment and drive overall growth through new technologies.
The Saudi customs revealed a new roadmap to accelerate change in all its operations, the authority that seeks to simplify and automate customs procedures, as well as providing world-class services to its customers.

HE Ahmed Alhakbani, Governor of Saudi Customs, said: "The pilot project is in line with our strategy that aims to facilitate trade and improve safety levels, while working to establish the kingdom as one of the world's leading logistics hubs .
