Lidl Switzerland switches to digital price tags. The wholesaler announced this in a statement on Tuesday. Lidl primarily wants to save paper and protect the environment. The system was initially tested in all Swiss fruit and vegetable branches and is now being expanded to include all product ranges.

Lidl estimates that the move will save around 75 tons of paper per year. It also saves time when labeling products, as labels no longer have to be printed and attached.

The wholesaler also assumes that customers will benefit from the measure: “We pass on the price advantages resulting from these measures 1: 1 to our customers and can therefore offer the best quality at the best price,” says COO Quote Christian Steimle.
