Three more deaths from COVID-19 reported in Stearns, Benton Counties

Another person in Benton County between the ages of 70 and 74 and two people in Stearns County between the ages of 90 and 94 died of COVID-19, according to Saturday’s report from the Minnesota Department of Health.

Saturday’s report includes 8,574 confirmed cases and 45 deaths statewide between Thursday and Friday.

On Thursday and Friday, Stearns County reported an additional 258 confirmed cases of COVID-19, Sherburne County reported 163 new cases, and Benton County reported 69, according to the report.

Sherburne County reported no new deaths from the disease Thursday or Friday, according to the report.

Statewide, the number of people who tested positive for the new coronavirus reached a total of 297,927 cases and 3,453 people died on Saturday, according to the health department.

Including the 6,095 Minnesotans reported as probable cases of COVID-19 but not positive, the state reached a cumulative total of 304,023 cases since the start of the pandemic.

Of these, 16,423 people required hospitalization for the virus in the state and 3,715 people required intensive care.

According to the report, 257,485 coronavirus patients no longer need isolation.

Globally, there are more than 61.8 million cases of COVID-19, including over 13.1 million in the United States, according to the Johns Hopkins Coronavirus Research Center. More than 1.4 million people have died from the infection worldwide, including approximately 264,977 people in the United States
