Chatham-Kent recorded 14 new cases of COVID-19 – the largest total in one day in nearly three months – on Tuesday.

Ten new cases are in a workplace epidemic. The workplace is not open to the public, so Chatham-Kent Public Health has not identified it.

“We got a case from the workplace towards the end of last week, so we tested a shift there,” said Chatham-Kent health officer Dr David Colby. “We are now carrying out more extensive tests.”

Another new case is at Queen Elizabeth II Public School.

Chatham-Kent Public Health is contacting any Queen Elizabeth II students and staff who may have been in contact with the virus. The school remains open.

The cumulative total of Chatham-Kent is up to 440 cases.

There are 23 active cases, nearly doubling the total of 12 active cases on Monday.

The 14 new cases are the largest one-day total since 16 were reported on August 14.

No one is hospitalized.

The outbreak at the Word of Life Church in Blenheim still has an active case. Nineteen people recovered.

There are no active cases left in a congregated life epidemic. Five have recovered.

Nine of the 23 active cases result from close contact with other cases. Another case is travel-related and the lawsuit is pending for two others.
