The internal brand H & M Arket has confirmed that it is testing a new integration of the product with the developer of the blockchain VeChain technology.
In an e-mail to Hard Fork, an Arket spokesperson said the clothing store performed a minor blockchain implementation to track product data securely. The H & M subsidiary has not clarified to what extent it is testing the solution, nor in which locations.
"Arket performed a small concept test (POC) through a pilot test with VeChain to use blockchain technology to ensure traceability of product data in the value chain, "said the spokesman at Hard Fork." The test was done on a woolen cap from autumn 2018 collection."
Rumors of a possible collaboration between the brand owned by H & M and VeChain have started to circulate after cryptocurrency enthusiasts have led to Reddit is chirping share videos of users who try blockchain implementation at Arket locations in London.
In the movie, you can see users who scan an Arket object with VeChain Pro – an app that helps customers find more detailed information about a product.

It is worth noting that the collaboration of Arket with VeChain is far from being a done deal, and only an experiment at this point.
"The test is underway and has not yet been evaluated," Arket told Hard Fork.
Regardless of the result, it will be interesting to see the H & M perspective on the utility (or the uselessness) of the use of blockchain as a supply chain solution.
