The car that has been the best-selling model on the Portuguese market three times in the last decade opens a new chapter in its history with the introduction of an update that goes far beyond aesthetics. New arguments for the rival of the Golf, which intends to make life difficult for the competition with a clear evolution of design, but above all with an evident commitment to strengthen technology: safety, connectivity and, above all, offer of engines.

We have already told you about the main changes introduced in this one restyling of Mégane, which arrived at the Portuguese dealers with the announcement of a price starting from 24,750 euros. The value corresponds to the sedan with the basic equipment (Zen) and the access block to the range, the TCe 115 FAP which, as the name suggests, delivers 115 hp of power at 4500 and a torque of 220 Nm at 1500 rpm. It is mated to a six-speed manual gearbox and claims a combined cycle consumption of 5.9 l / 100 km. Equally in terms of equipment and power, the Sport Tourer demands € 25,900 in return.

Taking advantage of this renewal of its representative in the C segment, Renault is launching a rechargeable hybrid engine available only for the van, bodywork that tends to be one of the most sought after in our market. In particular, the Mégane Sport Tourer E-TECH Hybrid Plug-in uses a battery with a capacity of 9.8 kWh (400V), which powers the two electric motors associated with the new 1.6 petrol four-cylinder, and can travel in 100% mode. electric and up to a speed limited to 135 km / h, 50 km in mixed cycle (WLTP) and up to 65 km in urban cycle. In the combined cycle, which is usually the gauge, the Mégane PHEV announces a consumption of only 1.3 liters in the first 100 km, with the corresponding CO emissions2/ km to be set at 29 grams. This friendlier side of the wallet, when it comes to savings, and the environment, when it comes to emissions, requires more effort in the acquisition, because if the power goes up (160 hp), so does the price. Mégane Sport Tourer’s E-TECH hybrid plug-in is marketed for us for values ​​starting at € 36,350, but for businesses it offers the benefit of allowing full VAT recovery, among other tax benefits.

Diesel, the offer starts at 28,450 euros for the sedan and 29,600 euros for the van, in this case with the Blue dCi 115 under the hood. values ​​if associated with the six-speed manual gearbox. Alternatively, it is possible to opt for the EDC automatic transmission with seven-speed double clutch, which promises fuel consumption between 4.4 and 4.8 l / 100 km, but which implies the payment of an additional € 2000 compared to the manual gearbox, for the same level of equipment.
