COLUMBUS, OH (WCMH) – Drivers in the short North can now pay to park with their smartphones.

The city of Colombo is renewing its parking situation with the launch of the Park Columbus app.

"For the parking meters themselves, they do not have a time limit," said Michael Liggett, coordinator of community relations for the Department of Public Services in Columbus. "You can continue adding time to them during the day [by using the app]".

Liggett said the new Park Columbus app is just part of the new Short North parking plan. At the moment, there are around 600 parking meters available for the app, which will be available on all pay meters in the neighborhood by January 22nd.

So far, residents and riders are enjoying the new feature.

"Yes, better for the Millennials, right?" Brenden Kelly, a brief visitor from the North, said.

"All right, I'm in," said David Snyder, a resident of Short North. "Yes, longer and better, especially if you're a guest."

The city plans to add mobile parking options to all 4500 meters of the city by the end of 2019.
